MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Some of the world’s top solo-guitarists will be in the mid-state this weekend for the 12th annual Tennessee Guitar Festival and Competition.

The event will be held at Middle Tennessee State University over three days beginning Thursday.  MTSU alumnus Silviu Ciulei, an internationally acclaimed classical and flamenco guitarist, will be the festival’s featured performer Friday night.

Other performers of note include Ben Bolt, Carlos Castilla, and Richard Todd.

Festival director William Yelverton says Tennessee’s never seen this many world-class guitarists at a single event.

“We have the largest competition we’ve ever had. We’ve got 25 competitors coming from several different countries and all corners of the United States. It’s undoubtedly the most competitive and highest level competition in the state’s history I believe.”

All of the festival competitions, master classes and concerts are open to the public. You can find a list of times and ticket prices online attennesseeguitarfestival.com.
