Son-In-Law Arrested in Package Explosion Deaths

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The son-in-law of a Tennessee couple killed when a package exploded at their home has been charged with first-degree murder in their deaths.

State Fire Marshal's Office spokeswoman Katelyn Abernathy says Richard Parker is also charged with unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon.

During the Thursday evening press conference announcing the arrest, ATF Special Agent Jeff Fulton went to some length to reassure the public.

“This device was placed. It was not shipped in any way through any common carrier. It was placed...so people should know it didn’t arrive by mail or any other shipping services.”

Friends of the victims described 74-year-old Jon Setzer and his 72-year-old wife Marion as kind, gentle and devout.

Officials continue to ask for the public’s help in developing the case and a reward for information is still being offered.
