MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Tennessee’s unemployment rate continued to fall in October.

The Tennessee Department of Labor reports that the state jobless rate for ticked down two-tenths from the previous month to 7.1 percent.

Tennessee’s unemployment rate is still well above the national jobless rate, which currently stands at 5.8 percent.

Tennessee’s unemployment rate bucked the national trend and rose steadily the first half of the year, but has begun to fall again in more recent months.

The state added almost 8,000 jobs in September, but about 200,000 Tennesseans are currently out of work and looking for employment.
