NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Documents show that Tennessee officials had concerns about a testing company's ability to fulfill a $107.7 million contract to administer the new online TNReady standardized test even before this year's failed rollout.
The state announced last week it had terminated its contract with North-Carolina based Measurement Inc. following repeated failures.
Quoting documents used to vet the company, The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1NiAxhn ) reports that officials said the company's online test delivery system hadn't been "top notch" and said company officials hadn't been "easily responsive to changes and additions."
The Tennessee Department of General Services, which awarded the five-year contract, declined to comment.
TNReady was supposed to be taken online, but computer glitches prevented children from taking it in February. Measurement Inc. then missed repeated deadlines to provide paper versions to schools.
