MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT/TNS)  -- A neurology researcher at Vanderbilt University says Tennessee has a problem with migraines.

Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities all made the top 10 list of the 110 worst cities for migraines.

The study analyzed several metrics, including the number of migraine prescriptions written, hours worked, commute times, and diets.

Vanderbilt professor Jan Brandes says Tennessee's weather is another factor.

"One of the issues that may play a role has to do with barometric pressure shift. So, we have four seasons here, and any time there's a fluctuation in barometric pressure, that – for many migraineurs – can trigger an attack."

Brandes says you can reduce the number of migrages you suffer by cutting back on alcohol and caffeine intake, Certain foods can also be "triggers" for headaches.
