Tennessee one of the nation's most charitable states...again

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  For the second year in a row a study ranks Tennesseans among the most generous givers in America.

WMOT reporting partner Wallethub.com says that Tennessee actually improved it’s standing, moving from ninth to sixth in a list of the most generous states in the nation.

Wallethub analyst Jill Gonzalez says Tennessean’s ranks favorably when it comes to the number of service hours donated, but really excels when it comes to financial donations.

“When we’re looking at the percentage of adjusted gross income donated last year, Tennessee had the fourth highest. Typically, people are giving about 5 percent of their total income. So I think that really says a lot about how much people are giving. They’re not just doing the minimum here, but they’re really giving a hefty sum.”

Gonzalez also reports that Tennessee ranked higher than any of its neighbors on the list of the most generous states in the nation.

Utah was, once again, this year’s most generous state in America.
