Tennessee Opens Export Offices in 4 Countries

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) — Governor Haslam says Tennessee is preparing to open offices in four countries to help increase exports to key international markets.

Tennessee will open Export Development Offices in Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany and China.

Clint Brewer of the Department of Economic and Community Development says the offices will help Tennessee businesses navigate the exporting process.

“What we’re trying to do is simply demystify the concept of exporting for companies and help them navigate it. It’s not rocket science – exporting – but it is a lot of work, and once you navigate it the first couple of times it becomes a lot easier."

Brewer says Tennessee's total export volume has more than tripled in the past decade.

More than 6,400 Tennessee businesses sold nearly $30 billion worth of products around the world in 2011.
