Tennessee's Unemployment Rate Continues to Fall

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Tennessee’s unemployment rate dropped again in February, down three-tenths  from January to 6.9 percent.

The State Department of Labor says that’s the lowest jobless number Tennessee has seen since July of 2008. In February, 2013 the state’s unemployment rate stood above 8 percent.

Tennessee employers added 6,900 jobs in February. Positions were added in manufacturing, professional services and government. Jobs were lost in financial services, information services and leisure and hospitality.

Tennessee’s jobless rate has now been falling steadily since last summer. However, the current 6.9 percent unemployment number still stands two-tenths higher than the national rate.
