There's a Tennessee connection to the Louisiana theater shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  One of the victims of that theater shooting in Louisiana has a Tennessee connection.

WSMV-TV reports that 33-year-old Jillian Johnson graduated from Nashville’s Hillwood High in 2000 and also attended Belmont University.

Police say Johnson died at a Lafayette hospital after being shot at a local theater Thursday evening.

Officials say the shooter was 59-year-old John R. Houser. He’s being described as a drifter from Alabama.

Houser reportedly stood up and opened fire on the crowd 20 minutes into the movie and then took his own life.

A second woman was also killed and nine others were wounded in the incident.
