TPAC TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR ROLE IN NASHVILLE ENGAGEMENT OF CAMELOT

Four actors to be chosen for “Tom of Warwick” role during week-long run

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Performing Arts Center, in conjunction with Phoenix Entertainment, is searching for four young male actors to portray the role of “Tom of Warwick” in the national tour of CAMELOT, which will play TPAC’s Andrew Jackson Hall for a limited, one-week engagement November 4-9.

Tom of Warwick is a young boy destined to be a knight. He wants to fight for what is right and gives King Arthur hope for the future. Ideally, the actors to portray Tom should be in good physical shape, appear to be between the ages of 8 and 13 and under 5 feet tall. This is an acting role with no singing required. The actors should be able to memorize approximately 10-15 lines and take simple stage direction quickly. The actors must be able to attend rehearsal and wardrobe fittings on November 4 and will need a chaperone over 18 years of age to accompany them at all times.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Saturday, September 13 in two time blocks, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 pm. Actors must submit a headshot with a 50-word bio and must be prepared to read the “Tom of Warwick/King Arthur” scene (End of Act Two). Following the initial audition, 10 actors will be called back for a video audition Monday evening, September 15, between 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm.

CAMELOT features a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Frederick Loewe and is based on the King Arthur legend adapted from the T.H. White novel The Once and Future King. This all-new production is directed by Michael McFadden and features scenic design by Kevin Depinet, lighting design by Mike Baldassari and sound design by Craig Cassidy.  

Taught well by Merlin, King Arthur, with his beautiful new queen Guinevere, rule the kingdom of CAMELOT with new ideals, bringing peace to a troubled land.  With the addition of the dashing Sir Lancelot to the Knights of the Round Table, one of the most fabled love triangles of all time ensues. Mordred, King Arthur’s illegitimate son, catches on and sees a kingdom in chaos and attempts to destroy all that is CAMELOT.
