MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  There were two armed robbery attempts late Tuesday night on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

WSMV-TV reports that the first robbery attempt took place at around 9 p.m. MTSU police say a man armed with a knife attempted to rob a student in the parking lot on South Rutherford Blvd.

The crime report describes the suspect as a tall, light-skinned black man with freckles and wearing a gray hoodie.

A few minutes after 11 p.m. MTSU Police issued a second campus wide alert. This time a man armed with a handgun attempted a robbery near the Scarlett Commons apartment complex.

The police report on that incident says the robber was wearing a black ski mask and black clothing.

WMOT news partner Sidelines reports that this past Sunday morning, a group of MTSU students were robbed at gunpoint just off campus on East Main. One person was shot during that incident but is recovering.

If you have information about any of these incidents, call campus police at 615-898-2424.
