Two Murf. Shots Fired Incidents Overnight, One Man Wounded

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Shots fired incidents overnight in two different Murfreesboro locations appear to be related.

Murfreesboro Police say they were called to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital last night just after midnight  when a gunshot victim turned up at the E.R. The wounded minor teen told police that he’d been walking near the corner of State Street and University when someone began shooting at him. There’s no word yet today on the extent of the teen’s injuries.

A little over an hour later police were called to the Rutherford Woodlands Apartments on North Rutherford Blvd in response to a second shots fired incident. Twenty-eight year-old Damian Gilbert told police that he and girlfriend, Franshika Crawford, were cleaning blood out of their car, apparently after having transported the wounded teen to the hospital.

Gilbert and Crawford told police a white, four-door Mercedes pulled into their parking lot and the front seat passenger fired several shots at them. Neither was injured, but police say cars belonging to the pair had numerous bullet holes and windows shot out.

A police incident report says Gilbert was not cooperative and would not suggest who might have fired the shots or why. MPD detectives have taken over the investigation.
