MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  United Way in Murfreesboro wants to make this a happy New Year for the mid-state’s newest residents.

The charity is holding a community baby shower to collect necessities for new mothers in need.

Items requested include diapers, onesies, bottles, baby wipes, blankets, and formula. Donations will be accepted through Monday.

The United Way’s Kristin Swann says she’s looking for additional volunteers to sort the donations into gift packs.

“On January 24th we’re going to have some volunteers put together the bags for the families. We’re actually going to be at Holloway High School assembling those bags, so that’s from 9 to 11 a.m. on January 24th.

Donations for the community baby shower can be dropped off at the United Way Office on Memorial Blvd, or at City Auto on Bridge Avenue.
