Untranslatable Words on The World for 10-14

We're pondering untranslatable words today in the next installment of our series, "In Other Words."  Take the French word, chouette. Literally it means a type of owl. But much more frequently, people use chouette to describe something that is cute, neat, or nice, or friendly, or even terrific or fantastic. All depends on the moment, and that means the French will likely know what chouette is before you do. Marco speaks with Princeton professor Michael Wood, one of the editors of the "Dictionary of Untranslatables."

Also today, Sierra Leonean soccer player Michael Lahoud takes on Ebola with a fundraising campaign called #kickebolainthebutt. He plays for the Philadelphia Union and also for Sierra Leone's national team. The national team has been exiled and stigmatized, including having "Ebola, Ebola" chanted at them on the field.

Plus, remember those kids from Central America who were coming to the US in big numbers? Many were escaping violence back home, and hoping to reunite with family members here. Today we bring you the story of one girl, who now finds herself in legal limbo.

And Marco chats with photographer Debi Cornwall about the surreal landscape of the US detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
