UPDATE: Bradyville Pike Shooting 3rd Murf. Homicide in 2 Weeks

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro Police say the man they found dead in Bradyville Pike apartment died of a gunshot wound and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they have confirmed the victim’s identity, but will not release his name until his next of kin can be notified.

During the lunch hour yesterday police were called to 1306 Bradyville Pike in response to a possible burglary. When they entered apartment G-53 they found one man dead.

Department Spokesman Kyle Evans says the Violent Crimes Unit is handling the case.

“This is our third homicide of the year, which ties what we had last year. So we start 2014 to a pretty rough start. Hopefully we’ll be able to, like in the last case, make an arrest quickly in this.”

At the end of January two Murfreesboro men were gunned down in a Walmart parking lot. A Nashville man was arrested just days later in connection with those deaths. Police have not revealed a motive in the case.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help with the Bradyville Pike homicide. If you have information about the case call CRIMESTOPPERS AT 893-STOP(7867).
