NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The weather forecast calls for warm but cloudy weather as polls opened across Tennessee for a general election in which voters will decide a U.S. Senate race as several state and local offices and measures.
According to the National Weather Service, much of the state will see highs on Tuesday in the 60s and 70s.
Voters who head to the polls will decide whether to grant Republican Lamar Alexander a third term in the U.S. Senate. He faces Democrat Gordon Ball, a Knoxville attorney.
In addition to the Senate race, voters will be casting ballots on proposed amendments to the state constitution. There's also a U.S. House race in Middle Tennessee, and voters in many communities will be deciding whether to allow wine sales in supermarkets.
