Where the Mariachis Train on The World for 3-24

PRI's The World - with Host Marco Werman

Today -- we've got the latest on Russia and on the missing plane (more on that below), but we've also got something to beat the Monday blahs.   Ever wonder where all those mariachis train? Yeah, we did too. Reporter Jason Margolis brings us the story form Mexico.

Of course, along the way we'll bring you the latest on the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. The Malaysian Prime Minister announced today that new satellite evidence seems to confirm the plane went down in the Indian Ocean. The search for debris continues, and families of those aboard the plane are now being flown to Australia.

Also, what's life like now in Crimea? Appreciably different than before? We'll touch base with a correspondent on the ground. Also, America's former ambassador to NATO, Ivo Daalder, weighs in on what the US should do next in the ongoing back-and-forth with Russia over Ukraine. And we'll also check in with a reporter in Transnistria, a part of Moldova which, like Crimea, is angling to go back to Mother Russia.

We'll also speak with author Teju Cole about his most recent work, a memoir about his return to his native Nigeria.
