The World Explores Whether Sochi Ready for the Olympics on Today's Show-2-3-14

PRI's The World - with Host Marco Werman

The countdown to the Sochi Olympics is on...but is the city ready?

Reporter Julia Barton is just back from Sochi, and she'll tell us all about the good, the bad and the ugly for the residents of Sochi in the run-up to the start of the Winter Olympics later this week. And while we're in Sochi, let's discuss the snowboarding course, which even by the event's crazy standards, has been deemed too darn dangerous by some. The course has already claimed one of the top contenders for gold -- a Norwegian boarder shattered his collarbone during practice.

And since we're on the slopes, we profile the three Canadian sisters...yes, three of them...who will be competing in Sochi.

Plus, we have a feature on Shannon Jensen, a photojournalist who found a unique way to tell the harrowing stories of refugees in South Sudan. She did it by making portraits...of their shoes.
