The World Looks at Your Favorite Music for 2014 on 12-22

What were your favorite music tracks of 2014? Host Marco Werman and studio director April Peavey share their top picks today on the show. Not to be missed.

First, though, we head to New York City where the police force is reeling after a weekend attack by a gunman left two officers dead. Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were killed in Brooklyn on Saturday by a man claiming it was in retaliation for recent slayings of black men at the hands of white police. Ramos and Liu were Hispanic and Asian respectively. We'll be asking whether or not the NYPD reflects the ethnic diversity of this global city, and what that means for policing there.

Plus, we'll profile a virtual reality program at the University of Southern California that seeks to let ordinary Americans see, and feel, what it's like to live in war-torn Syria. We'll also speak with author Dianna Darke, who bought a house a few years back in Damascus.

Finally, reporter Mirissa Neff just happens to be in Havana right now. We'll check in with her, and find out about a big surprise over the weekend at a Silvio Rodriguez concert. Rodriguez is one of the long-time musical supporters of the Castro regime.
