The World's Leo Hornak on the Pulse of Parisians AFter the Attacks for 1-12-15

Parisians try to regain a sense of normalcy today amid extremely tight security.

The French government deployed an extra 10,000 troops on streets across the country today. The World's Leo Hornak is in Paris, and has been taking the pulse of Parisians in the wake of last week's deadly attacks and subsequent manhunt. He'll introduce us to a couple named Ahmed and Florence. He's originally from Egypt, she's French. He's Muslim, and she's Christian. Ahmed hates Charlie Hebdo, but Florence loves it. But they both went to the marches this weekend, and reflect on France's path forward.

And while everyone's attention's been focused on Paris, the situation with Boko Haram in Nigeria seems to be getting worse and worse. There were reports late last week that a Boko Haram attack left 2,000 dead. We'll check in with our colleagues from the BBC who are on the ground in Nigeria.

We also head to Haiti where a devastating earthquake there five years ago today, killed thousands and left the island-nation in shambles. Reporter Amy Bracken looks at how one development in rural Haiti is supporting its female residents. And we hear why a Haitian-American attorney from Massachusetts moved to Haiti after the earthquake and started a fish farm.
