MTSU Experts Devote Time, Knowledge to ‘Adventures in Learning’

Adventures in Learning

Members of the MTSU community will be among the instructors leading senior citizens again at this year’s “Adventures in Learning.”

An educational event sponsored annually by an interfaith coalition, “Adventures in Learning” is scheduled for 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30 at First United Methodist Church, 265 W. Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro.

Professors and practitioners will hold informal classes that enlighten and entertain people ages 50 and older who want to learn something new.

National Endowment for the Arts Funds MTSU Professor’s Translation Work

Mohammed Albakry

An MTSU professor will receive a $25,000 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts for the translation of literature.

Dr. Mohammed Albakry, an associate professor of English and applied linguistics and director of graduate admissions for the English department, is one of only 16 people in the country to obtain the coveted fellowship for fiscal year 2014.

Dairy Hill Stampede 5K, Family Fun Run Scheduled Sept. 14 at MTSU Farm

The Dairy Hill Stampede 5K Race and Family Fun Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the MTSU Experiential Learning and Research Center, 3211 Guy James Road, in Lascassas, Tenn.

The event will feature a 5K (3.10 miles) timed race that will start at 8 a.m. and a Family Fun Run that will begin at 9:30 a.m. The 5K will begin and end at the MTSU Dairy.
