Arrival of MTSU Mechatronics Engineering Signals Growth, Jobs

Nasab Views Bridgestone Equipment

Barely had the ink dried on the Tennessee Higher Education Commission’s approval of the MTSU mechatronics engineering program when things began to stir in the university’s Engineering Technology department.

Telephones began ringing and emails began coming in to the offices of department chair Walter Boles and faculty member Ahad Nasab less than 24 hours after the late July approval.

MTSU Freshmen Pack 2,513 Healthy Snack Packs for ‘Day of Service’!

Freshmen pack healthy snacks for day of service

MTSU freshmen paused from their first-year college instruction Friday to give back to the community in a big way.

The Freshmen Day of Service took place from noon to 3 p.m. Friday in the Student Union Ballroom.

MTSU freshmen assembled snack packs to be delivered to local schools to encourage healthy eating among children involved in afterschool programs in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County.

Tennessee Dairy Processors Honor Retired MTSU Farm Lab Leader

Redd receives award

In true Tim Redd fashion, he accepted a statewide dairy recognition in stride.

The Tennessee Dairy Products Association Processors presented Redd, the former MTSU Farm Laboratories director before retiring, with a Distinguished Service Award for his 32 years “of leadership and service to the dairy industry through your work at Middle Tennessee State University.”

The award was presented Sept. 6 during the organization’s annual meeting and dairy judging contest at the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville.

Nationally known music and tech entrepreneur Mark Montgomery has created a new class focusing on new music business models for Middle Tennessee State University’s Department of Recording Industry.

Montgomery’s fall 2013 course, “The New Music Business,” will focus on the effect of the intertwining of music and technology on the music industry, as well as the challenges — and more importantly, opportunities — that marriage will create.
