MTSU Alternative Fuels Class Braces for Dec. 13 Races

Twenty-one MTSU students, who have modified four go-karts and one golf cart to run on five different alternative fuels, will have an end-of-semester competition at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.

The location will be on or around Lightning Way and the back of the Tennessee Livestock Center. Lightning Way is near Champion Way and Greenland Drive.

MTSU School of Journalism Gets Top-50 Nod from Student-Media Blog

A respected student-media scholar has included MTSU’S School of Journalism in his 2013 list of “50 Best Journalism Schools and Programs at U.S. Colleges and Universities.” 

Dr. Dan Reimold, who teaches journalism at the University of Tampa and blogs at CollegeMediaMatters.com, said he based his evaluations on “knowledge of various schools’ and departments’ reputations, faculty, affiliated student media, classes (and) internship and study-abroad connections.”

Game, Experiments Bring ‘100 Percent Fun’ to City Schools Students

Above the noise of thousands of children talking and doing what youngsters do when they attend a college basketball game (some for the first time), Cameron Burke said he was having “100 percent fun.”

Burke, 9, a fourth-grade student at John Pittard Elementary School in Murfreesboro, was having a grand time inside 11,000-plus-seat Murphy Center Tuesday morning. He said it was his first time to be in the arena.

If your little sleuths need to search for something other than Santa's secret stash of presents, check out CSI:MTSU's latest camp for kids.

MTSU's Forensic Institute for Research and Education is sponsoring "The Great Christmas Caper," a special mini-camp for science-minded fifth- through eighth-graders, on Dec. 20 and 21. 

The young participants will use forensic science to solve a mini-mystery — did Grandma really get run over by one of Santa's antlered crew?
