MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) — The United States Army and Marine Corps have signed and agreement with Middle Tennessee State University to study ways robots on the ground can be used in concert with unmanned vehicles in the air.
In announcing the new pact Monday morning, MTSU said the deal is the first of its kind. The agreement expands a partnership between the MTSU Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program and the U.S. military. Last year the university signed a deal to work on the Army’s remote-controlled Raven aircraft.

MTSU College of Education Dean Lana Seivers announced the new degree program late last week and says the first classes will be offered in the fall of 2013.

Dudley became the Blue Raiders first female All American entry in the high jump this past track season. Her success led her to the U.S. track and field Olympic trials last month in Eugene, Ore.
Dudley went right to work and made the preliminary cut to get into the high-jump final.

Tommy Haynes was a three-time All American under Middle Tennessee State track coach Dean Hayes. Haynes broke the NCAA and national records in the triple jump and set the top mark for an American at the 1975 Pan-American Games.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (NELSON) -- Last Friday's mass shooting in Colorado continues to be the topic of conversation nationwide. WMOT News spoke with students on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University to get their reaction to the tragedy.
Twenty-four year old James Holmes is the primary suspect in the shooting. Holmes is accused of entering a packed Colorado movie theater and opening fire on the audience. Twelve people died while 58 people were injured.
MTSU student Parham Abdi says the shooting left him feeling vulnerable.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn, (ANFINSON) -- Students on college campuses across Tennessee are bracing for yet another tuition hike. The Tennessee Board of Regents voted recently to increase tuition at all of its institutions, including a 6.8 percent increase at Middle Tennessee State.
Students attending schools in the University of Tennessee system will also face sharp hikes.
