Davis Helps MTSU Exit Sun Belt with a Bang

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  The MTSU men's basketball team collected another road win Saturday at Little Rock. It was Middle Tennessee's 12th straight win, the fourth-longest in program history.

The bigger story though, belonged to Middle Tennessee's men's basketball head coach Kermit Davis.

Davis collected his 113th Sun Belt Conference win, passing Ronnie Arrow's previous record of 112.

Davis, a 2-time Sun Belt Coach of the Year for the Blue Raiders, reached the 113 mark in only 11 seasons at the helm.

A Winning Year for MTSU Basketball

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  The Middle Tennessee State men's and women's teams are both in first place within the Sun Belt Conference.

With an 11-game winning streak and the Blue Raiders’ 52-point victory Saturday over Troy, Middle Tennessee is now 22-4 on the year, marking the second most wins in the entire nation behind Gonzaga.

Will Tenn. Schools Feel Impact of New Fed. Sports Regulations?

WASHINGTON (AP/WMOT) — The Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association says the state’s school systems will feel little impact from new federal guidelines requiring equal access for students with disabilities.

The Education Department announced Friday that students with disabilities must be given a chance to play on a traditional sports team or have their own leagues.

MTSU Will Jump to Conference USA Early

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --   Middle Tennessee announced its decision to join Conference USA back in November.  This week MTSU announced that it would be making the move earlier than expected.

After spending the last 13 years in the Sun Belt Conference, Middle Tennessee will officially join the highly coveted Conference USA July 1, 2013.

There is no question the Blue Raiders left a footprint in the Sun Belt though, earning four Sun Belt Athletes of the Year and 38 Coach of the Year winners.
