MTSU Will Jump to Conference USA Early

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --   Middle Tennessee announced its decision to join Conference USA back in November.  This week MTSU announced that it would be making the move earlier than expected.

After spending the last 13 years in the Sun Belt Conference, Middle Tennessee will officially join the highly coveted Conference USA July 1, 2013.

There is no question the Blue Raiders left a footprint in the Sun Belt though, earning four Sun Belt Athletes of the Year and 38 Coach of the Year winners.

Blue Raider Basketball Enjoys Winning Streak

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  Nearly halfway through the Sun Belt Conference schedule, both the Middle Tennessee State University men's and women's basketball teams are eastern division leaders.

The MTSU men's basketball team has won 22 straight regular-season games inside the Murphy Center, a steak that's spanned over a full calendar year.

Currently, the team is 7-1 holding the eastern division lead, along with a 10-0 home court record.

Blue Raiders Basketball Continues Winning Streak

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Middle Tennessee State basketball continues its winning streak.

Over the weekend, the Blue Raider men’s team earned its seventh win in the last eight games, defeating the University of Louisiana at Monroe 66 to 57 Saturday evening.

The MTSU Lady Raiders beat the ULM Warhawks even more convincingly, winning 66 to 48.

Marcos Knight was MT’s standout in the men’s game, racking up 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Ebony Rowe led the Lady Raiders earning a career-high 32 points.

Middle Tennessee Defeats North Texas 75-57

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Marcos Knight notched 12 points as Middle Tennessee remained perfect in Sun Belt Conference action with a 75-57 win over North Texas Monday night.

Raymond Cintron added 11 points for the Blue Raiders (11-3, 3-0), who got points from 10 different players and shot 50 percent (31 of 62) from the field.

Middle Tennessee is now 8-0 at home this year and has won 19 straight at Murphy Center.

Tony Mitchell scored 13 points with 11 rebounds for his 14th career double-double for North Texas (5-9, 0-3).
