20-20 Performances Garner National Attention for MT Lady Raider

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Middle Tennessee State basketball standout Ebony Rowe is getting a great deal of attention.

Last week Rowe was named the NCAA Player of the Week as well as the Tennessee Sports Writers Player of the Week. In addition, she received a top honor from MTSU’s new league, Conference USA.

This week Rowe has once again been named Player of the Week by Tennessee Sports Writers, following a run-away performance against mid-state rival Austin Peay State.

Tis the Season...for Bowl Games!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — It’s bowl season and the mid-state will be in the thick of the action.

Officials with the Music City Bowl announced last night the game will feature the Mississippi Rebels and Georgia Tech on Dec. 30.This will be the Rebels' second Music Bowl appearance, the first for Georgia Tech.  

Middle Tennessee State was invited yesterday to the Armed Forces Bowl, also to be played on Dec. 30. This will be MTSU’s eighth bowl game and pits them against Navy. The contest will air on  ESPN and ESPN Radio.

Rowe Leads Lady Raiders to Victory over Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  -

The NCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Ebony Rowe, led Middle Tennessee State to a 69-43 victory over Austin Peay in Clarksville yesterday afternoon.

Middle Tennessee, now 5 and 3 on the season, held a narrow 32-28 advantage at the half, before outscoring the Lady Governors 37-15 in the final period.

Rowe, produced her fourth straight double-double and sixth of the season, marking her as one of the best women basketball players in the country.

Belmont defeats Middle Tennessee 70-58

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — JJ Mann had a career-high 32 points as Belmont defeated Middle Tennessee 70-58, ending the Blue Raiders home winning streak at 33 games Tuesday night.

Middle Tennessee had the nation's longest regular-season home winning streak.

Belmont (8-2) came out hot, taking an 18-4 lead midway of the first period as Middle Tennessee (6-2) went scoreless for 7:39. The Blue Raiders (6-2) mounted a comeback to trail just 29-22 at the half.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Logan Kilgore threw for 325 yards, completing 19 of 27 passes, and two touchdowns as Middle Tennessee overwhelmed the University of Texas at El Paso 48-17 Saturday.

Kilgore, who completed 15 of 21 passes for 226 yards in the first half, struck quickly, hitting Marcus Henry on a 21-yard scoring pass at 10:56 in the first quarter.
