Lady Raiders to host Tennessee and Kentucky in November

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders women's basketball team will open the season hosting Tennessee for the first time since 2009.

According to the schedule released Sunday, the Blue Raiders face the Vols on Nov. 8. Last season, Tennessee beat MTSU 88-81 in overtime to advance to the elite eight in the NCAA Tournament.

MTSU's Stockstill to Decide Fate of Arrested Players Soon

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) — Middle Tennessee State football coach Rick Stockstill says he’ll make a decision soon regarding the long-term status of three Blue Raiders arrested in a domestic assault case.

Campus police say they have a video tape showing a woman being chocked by MTSU defensive tackle J.D. Jones while two of his teammates watch without intervening.

Jones was charged with two counts of domestic aggravated assault on Saturday. Cornerback Rodney O'Neal and defensive tackle Marcus Robinson were each charged with two counts of aiding and abetting.

Latest NCAA Academic Progress Report a Mixed Bag For Tenn.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The National Collegiate Athletic Association has released its annual Academic Progress Report and some of Tennessee’s largest universities have fallen below the national average.

The NCAA launched the report 10 years ago in response to charges that too many student athletes were failing to graduate. The APR tracks the eligibility, retention and graduation rates for each school in the association.

Lady Raider Excels On and Off the Basketball Court

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  Middle Tennessee State University women’s basketball standout Ebony Rowe is recognized for her feats on the court, but Rowe is equally impressive when she steps off the hardwood.

Over the course of three years wearing the Blue Raider uniform, Rowe has averaged 17.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

As a result, she's already captured the interest of the Women’s National Basketball Association.

MTSU Backup QB Arrested for Burglary

MURFREESBORO — A Middle Tennessee State University football player has been suspended following his arrest on burglary charges.

The Daily News Journal reports that 19 year-old MTSU backup quarterback Shaun White was arrested last week for aggravated burglary, vandalism and theft under $500. White’s former girlfriend, Paula Demings, was charged with vandalism in connection with the same incident.
