Lady Raiders Fall to Louisville, Insell Looks Ahead to Next Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP/WMOT) — The Middle Tennessee State Lady Raiders lost their first round NCAA tourney game Sunday afternoon.

The MTSU women fell to Louisville 74-49.

Kortni Jones led Middle Tennessee with 14 points, and Icelyn Elie added 13. Ebony Rowe had her 21st double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

MTSU Coach Rick Insell is already looking ahead.

“We’ll have three that’ll be graduating, then ten will be coming back and we’ve got four incoming freshmen right now. So we’ll reload and we’ll have another good team next year.”

MT Men Fall to Gaels, MT Women Keep NCAA Dreams Alive

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (DAVIS)  --  The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders arrived in Dayton, Ohio with dreams of advancing in the NCAA tournament Tuesday night, but those dreams were quickly dashed.

With a few hundred fans in the stands for support, MTSU kept it close with St. Mary’s early in the game. But late in the first half the Gaels took control of the game by sinking threes and forcing turnovers.

MTSU Faces St. Mary's in First NCAA Appearance in 24 Years

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  Mid-State sports fans have even more reason to celebrate the start of March Madness.  Two local schools will play in the NCAA tournament.

For the first time in 24 years, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are returning to the NCAA. Middle Tennessee is set to face Saint Mary’s as an eleven seed Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio with a tip off time of 8:10 p.m.

MT Women Win SBC Championship, Clench NCAA Berth

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (WMOT)  - Middle Tennessee State’s Lady Raiders came from behind yesterday afternoon to beat the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 53 to 48, and clench the Sun Belt Championship.

The win means the MT women have secured an automatic berth for a school-record fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The NCAA women’s Selection Show is set for next Monday, March 18.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Kermit Davis wants his Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to seize control of their postseason destiny this year.

The Blue Raiders thought they had an NCAA tournament team a season ago before losing their regular season finale and in the Sun Belt Conference tournament quarterfinals. They wound up in the National Invitation Tournament.
