MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. will make an appearance this week here in Middle Tennessee.
The son of Civil Rights icon the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Jess Jackson Jr. is scheduled to speak Friday on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. He was originally slated to be MTSU’s keynote speaker for Black History Month festivities in February, but had to reschedule the appearance.

The Blair String Quartet from Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music will premiere Michael Hersch's Images From a Closed Ward at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall Thursday evening. The program will also include a performance of Schubert's String Quartet No. 14, Death and the Maiden.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The month just ended was the warmest March on record across Tennessee.
National Weather Service records for Middle Tennessee show the average temperature was more than 11 degrees above normal. Memphis, Chattanooga, Knoxville and the Tri-Cities were all more than 10 degrees warmer than normal.
That news comes on the heels of Weather Service announcements that the winter just ended was also one of the warmest on record. Jason Wright is Weather Service Senior Meteorologist in Nashville.
