MURFREESBORO, Tenn (WMOT)  --  The Tennessee Board of Regents has voted to increase tuition at the system’s six universities, 13 colleges and 27 technical schools.  

The Regents approved the measure in Memphis on Friday during their quarterly meeting. 

Students at the University of Memphis will see the largest increase, paying $269 more per semester. TBR community college students will see an increase of $75  to $85 per semester.

In a press statement, the TBR says each school requested increases based on its particular needs.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Students in the University of Tennessee system will find out this week how much their tuition will be in the fall.

The finance committee of the UT Board of Trustees is scheduled to make the tuition projections on Wednesday and the full board will vote on them Thursday.

The university system has an enrollment of about 50,000 students at campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Martin; the Health Science Center in Memphis; state Institutes of Agriculture and Public Service; and the Space Institute in Tullahoma.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) — Middle Tennessee State University is asking for a tuition increase, saying it needs the money - in part - to address a faculty imbalance.

The finance committee of the state Board of Regents met Tuesday and unanimously recommended increases at its six universities, 13 community colleges and 27 technology centers.

The proposed hikes vary in size. Students at Middle Tennessee State University would see a 6.8 percent rise in tuition if the plan is approved.
